 Nice product, but rusts very easily October 6, 2008

I bought two of these units to use around the house, as we enjoy watching the hummingbirds each year. Within 3 weeks of use, one of the units is beginning to rust around the bottom part where the "flowers" where they feed. I would think it would be an easy thing to seal or cost these somehow after manufacturing to prevent this. I know these are brushed "metal" but come now, they shouldn't rust in three weeks.

We just purchased two of these feeders because we have had the exact one for the last 2 years and could not easily find a feeder with a good perch area for our "hummers". Most of the feeders in our local stores don't have any perch or not a very sturdy one. We love to watch the hummers on the feeder (sometimes just waiting for another one to come along to chase). This is a great feeder and although the one we've been using for over a year is still good, we wanted to "stock up" since this type is really hard to find.

We got this feeder to replace a plastic bulb feeder where the clear plastic had yellowed and the hummingbirds just never seemed to like it. Within 20 minutes of putting this one out with a sugar water solution, we had our first customer. Since then the birds visit frequently, perched for a while taking multiple drinks, and actually drinking almost all the food which has never happened before!
Overall the feeder is attractive and not an eye-sore hanging in the window like so many others. The glass tube is a huge plus that won't turn yellow, and the flowers are metal and easier to clean than those yellow plastic ones on other feeders. However, we've only had this feeder for about a month and there a couple of spots of rust on the top piece, and a lot of rust on the circular perch. This is a disappointment and if it continues to get worse I'll probably contact the company about it. Overall though, would still recommend this.
