5 out of 5 stars cardinal feeder   March 8, 2010
C. Shewchuk (Charlotte, NC USA)
I definitely recommend this feeder for the smaller black sunflower seeds. My old feeder used to have so much waste underneath the feeder. The birds were just as likely to be on the ground feeding from dropped seeds as up on the bird feeder. This feeder requires the birds to pick out one seed at a time. Its top protects the seed from weather conditions and it is simple to open the top and refill when needed. Also, the cardinals look so pretty sitting on the red feeder! Remember to use the SMALL BLACK sunflower seeds, not the large size striped sunflower seeds. If you are thinking of purchasing this feeder, I think you will be very happy with your purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Great Cardinal Feeder   January 20, 2010

Got this because it's big enough for Cardinals - Because of their size they need more perch room than most backyard birds. After putting it up for one day a male and female cardinal regularly visit it along with other types of birds that winter in Iowa. Haven't had any squirrels get to it yet, but have seen them eye-balling it. :-) We'll see. Holds a lot of seeds, is relatively easy to refill and seems to made to be very durable. I have mine hanging from an 8' black iron shepard's hook.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent feeder   December 2, 2009

I've tried many different feeders and this is one of the best . . . clinging birds love it, cardinals feed from it, blue jays and black birds leave it alone, there's minimal wasted seed, and it's attractive. I particularly like having red in the garden in winter. In my yard, it's hanging from a squirrel proof pole, and I use only black oil sunflower seeds. I refill it about every 2-1/2 to 3 weeks.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to use, great product   November 28, 2009

This is a great feeder -- not only does it have super easy and small storage capabilities (the whole thing collapses on itself) but it's easy to fill and has a nice latch to make sure it doesn't get opened by squirrels. I'm really happy with it!

5 out of 5 stars Raccoon proof!   November 20, 2009

I bought this feeder because we have trouble with raccoons. Well, the raccoons still come, not to mention the squirrels, but they only do minimal damaage compared to the wood and plastic feeders. The only thing one did was bend the handle slightly and scratch paint off a tiny spot. The handle bent back easily.

I have so many birds coming to feed now. I have junkos, nut hatches, blue jays, and even doves coming. No cardinals yet, but it's still early in the season for them where I live.

The feeder is very easy to use and fill. I only fill twice a week as it holds a lot of sunflower seeds.

I would buy this feeder again in a heartbeat.
