Our family has gained so much enjoyment from this product. Had it over a year and still works great. Plain black oil sunflower seeds work best in our area. We tried the bird seed mixes, and they just throw the seeds they don't like all over the ground and eat the sunflower seeds. We have this on the window near our kitchen table, and it provides a constant show. Great for kids. We bought a small bird identification book, and our 3 and 5 year old boys can now identify around 15 different species. It is neat to hear a 3 year old say "black-capped chickadee." It is also neat for the kids to watch the birds "take turns." They patiently wait their turn on the outside plant until the bird in front of them finishes. It has added to our childrens' appreciation of nature, and is fascinating for the adults as well. Highly recommend.

This is a great bird feeder...inexpensive, quality, keeps rain out, birds dry.
Paid 3 times a much for one with a one-way mirror, but lacking that, this is high

I have these installed on a window for the last 2 weeks. Not a single bird has visited. Meanwhile, a hanging birdfeeder about 20 feet away has a lot of activity. Not sure what is going on.
UPDATE: Lots of birds finally! This actually works great now. Took almost a month for the birds to discover the feeders. But now we have a constant flow of attractive birds. So be patient. If you build it, they will come!

I don't know what the heck I'm doing wrong but I haven't seen a single bird at this feeder in the 5 months its been up on our window. The birds flock to the other hanging seed feeder hung at the same height in the garden and I have to fill it weekly. I'm still hoping they'll find this window feeder but I'm getting pretty discouraged.
